Out and About
Taking inside learning, outside
Many of our children/young people thrive when learning in a different environment and being outside helps many of our pupils with emotional and sensory regulation.
We have invested in creating great outdoor learning spaces on the school site, so that outside learning isn’t restricted to off-site trips or residentials.
We are fortunate to have Forest Schools trained practitioners on the staff team and an experienced Beach Schools enthusiast.
In addition, we are working in collaboration with Nature Friendly Schools who have helped us plan the outside environment and provided additional staff training.

Beach school enables children to learn about the natural world around them and helps to develop their practical and emotional skills.
This is a great way of learning for the more practical learners.
When on the beach the children do a range of activities that all fit in with their school curriculum, ranging from map reading to beach safety and much more.
