Careers Week at Mountjoy

Wow!! What a busy careers week we’ve had, from leaning about the hospitality industry; making beds and milkshakes to touring the Numatics factory and lots more in between. We have lots of amazing people to thank for coming and sharing with us ;

Amy and Gareth from The Nook Weymouth
Sarah and the team at Mapperton House
Jo from Dorset Libraries
Steve and Kris from the DCH Blood bikes
Jason from Dorset Police
Louise from Coastwatch Volunteer
Tim Fawkes Musician
Becky and the team at Numatics
Samantha from Morissons
Erica and Erin from Medivet
Andy and Jordan from the Beaminster fire crew
Garry previously from National Grid
Robert from Dorset Council Refuse Collection
Chris from the Ark at Egwood
Greg from Blandford Studios
Wolf from Lyme Bay Winery

It really has been a fantastic week with students across the school being able to find out about different careers. It has given lots of food for thought and ideas about what they’d like to do beyond school.

Maple Class has a visit from Wilber!

Maple Class has a visit from Wilber!

As part of our science topic this term, we had a visit from Wilber the skeleton. We have been learning about the different bones in the body; how they work with our muscles and tendons.
It was great to see how the children remembered some of the bone names and his visit really helped to reinforce our learning.
(Thank you to Harvey S-J for the loan of Wilber who has just finished staring in a local independent film!!)
