Prom 2026 – ‘Under the Sea’

Prom 2026 – ‘Under the Sea’

Our Under the Sea themed prom went down a storm! What a fantastic evening celebrating our wonderful leavers.
All of the students looked amazing in their outfits, each showing off their own unique sense of style. Their grand arrivals were just as impressive, with a variety of vehicles adding to the excitement and helping to make the evening even more memorable.
The disco was a huge hit, with the dance floor full all night long. A special mention must go to those students who treated us to some of the best dance moves Beaminster has ever seen – we’re sure you all know who we mean! 💃🕺
While our leavers will be sorely missed, we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and wish them every success and happiness as they move on to their new provisions. They were truly sent off in style and thoroughly deserved such a special celebration.
The Headteacher Gill said “It was truly a magnificent send off to our treasured school leavers. It couldn’t have been done without the hard work of Donna Peterson and Natalie Flawn, our organisers, and the support of Friends of Mountjoy and the many volunteers who made this such a special event. Our families went the extra  mile to make it a night to remember.”
💙 We are so proud of each and every one of our leavers and wish them all the very best for the future. 💙
Ash class Visits to different colleges.

Ash class Visits to different colleges.

Year 10s have been completing visits to the local colleges to help them decide on their next steps and whether it may be college or 6th form.  This year we have enjoyed seeing the new Cove at Weymouth.  Yeovil College which is also updating and building new facilities and EMA who also had new parts added since our last visits.  All good news for our students who will decide on the best routes for themselves.

Duke of Edinburgh Award – Bronze & Silver

Some of the students in Ash and Oak have been on their expeditions working towards their Bronze & Silver Awards.  Last week they enjoyed walking in the West Dorset countryside and having some well-earned time in nature.  Some students chose to stay and camp on the school field where we had the fire pit lit and we cooked some “Smores” whilst star gazing.
‘Handlebards’ visit Mountjoy

‘Handlebards’ visit Mountjoy

KS3 and 4 experienced the power of live theatre on Friday when we had the ‘Handlebards’ visit Mountjoy for the day.
We were treated to an engaging and fun performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and were entranced throughout the whole 70 minutes.
Lots of laughter, disgusting moments and even staff getting up on stage! The afternoon saw the pupils developing their own acting skills becoming key Macbeth characters.
It was inspiring to see all of the students participating and most even had a go at performing to their peers.
What an amazing experience! A big thank you to FOMS for funding this.
