On Friday 21st June we celebrated Pride Month at Mountjoy. Pride month is about acceptance, equality, and celebration and raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community. We have our own group the ‘ Sun and Moon Group’ who wanted a day of colour so students and staff wore different colours of the rainbow.

A small group of students were treated exceptionally well at Higher Kingcombe Fishing lakes today. The Masonic Fishing Charity supported and entertained them all day. Every student caught at least one fish. Some were big and some were tiny. It didn’t matter because we all congratulated each other on their achievements. All the students and staff were treated to a lovely BBQ for lunch before a presentation where all the students were given a medal and a certificate. A great day out!
Some of Juniper Class had another lovely day out at Westbay this week. We enjoyed seeing our friend Gabe before getting an ice-cream 🙂
Oak Class spent a fantastic few days at Magdalen Farm last week. Finally, after a tummy bug at the 11th hour halted the residential last time round, Oak Class made it to Magdalen Farm. Having accommodation in the ‘Farmhouse’ meant that the boys and staff had a ‘home away from home’ for a few days. We were shown around and looked after by Izzy our fantastic tutor who shared lots of different activities with us. Despite the persistent rain everyone had a fantastic time trying different activities and became quite adept at getting wellies and waterproofs on and off!
