Mascarade Prom 2025

Mascarade Prom 2025

Our current KS4 and Post 16 enjoyed their Mascarade themed Prom last week.  Students arrived in a range of vehicles including, a motorbike, Range Rover and a Ford Mustang.  All students partied the night away to a disco and enjoyed buffet and refreshments.  This is able to happen because Friends of Mountjoy were able to make a donation to largely pay for the event. Thank you to all the staff for everything they did.

Oak Class Magdalen Trip

Oak Class Magdalen Trip

Oak and Juniper were lucky enough to take part in a 2 night residential at Magdalen Farm along with Rowan class. A big step for some of the students as it was their first trip away from home but all coped really well and engaged with the tasks we had to take on. They helped feeding the animals, collecting eggs, joined in with den building and planting trees. They enjoyed crafts using natural materials, making smoothies on the bike and making pizza in the eco oven for snack.  In addition to the farm tasks there was bed making, table setting and clearing to be done. Some of the students joined us for the day and despite the challenging weather they had a fantastic time joining in.

Oak Class – Sensory Garden

Oak Class – Sensory Garden

Oak Class are working hard to revitalise our sensory garden.  This has been made possible by the generosity of Little Groves Garden Centre who very kindly donated a £100 voucher to us.  We have had a couple of trips to the garden centre to get some inspiration and to purchase plants.  The staff there have been very accommodating, knowledgeable and have helped us to choose the best plants for the different sense beds in our garden.   A big thank you to them all!
We cant wait to share anther update with you once it is all planted up.
Magdelen Residential

Magdelen Residential

Rowan, Juniper and Oak had an amazing 2 night residential to Magdalen Farm. We enjoyed orienteering, feeding pigs, goats, chickens and cows. We also made smoothies on the blender bikes, built dens in the woods, made pizzas in the outdoor wood oven, collected eggs, sang songs around the camp fire, star gazed and of course ate lots of lovely food. We were really looked after by all the Magdalen staff especially our guide: Tilda. Your young people were exemplary and did us all proud.

Mountjoy grown pumpkins are carved!

Mountjoy grown pumpkins are carved!

Oak class were fortunate enough to be the recipients of one of the Mountjoy grown pumpkins. With a student who loves Halloween how could we not?! The students drew faces that they would like to go on the pumpkin and then we chose the one to be cut out……our cutting skills did help with choices! We had hoped to make pumpkin soup with the innards as one of the students has the story book from the library and is enjoying listening to it but we found not much flesh and lots of seeds when we hollowed out. Instead we have washed and are drying the seeds ready to give back to Jenny – who knows they may be what grows our pumpkin next year!!
