Juniper sailing at Portland Sailing Centre

Juniper sailing at Portland Sailing Centre

Juniper class enjoyed a trip to Portland  to set sail on the Weymouth waters. We joined our friends in Oak class in the sail boats and headed out across the harbour. It was a great experience for all the boys and was fully accessible for everyone . Staff at the centre were very accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us all. Both Juniper boys got so much out of the hours sail, giving them a sense of freedom and enjoying the wind on their faces, thankfully the weather stayed on our side and we saw the sunshine. We hope to have this experience again  in the future.

Juniper Class Washingpool Farm Visit

Juniper Class Washingpool Farm Visit

Juniper Class visited Washingpool Farm today, courtesy of Discover Farming. We had a great time seeing the tractors at work, feeding the pigs, collecting eggs and visiting the Devon red Cows,  We explored the very hot polytunnels to find out how some of our food is grown: we smelled and tasted a range of herbs and vegetables and even took some home with us. Of course, we ended the day with a trip to the amazing farmshop and bought strawberries and biscuits to share with our friends back at school.

Oak Class Magdalen Trip

Oak Class Magdalen Trip

Oak and Juniper were lucky enough to take part in a 2 night residential at Magdalen Farm along with Rowan class. A big step for some of the students as it was their first trip away from home but all coped really well and engaged with the tasks we had to take on. They helped feeding the animals, collecting eggs, joined in with den building and planting trees. They enjoyed crafts using natural materials, making smoothies on the bike and making pizza in the eco oven for snack.  In addition to the farm tasks there was bed making, table setting and clearing to be done. Some of the students joined us for the day and despite the challenging weather they had a fantastic time joining in.

Magdelen Residential

Magdelen Residential

Rowan, Juniper and Oak had an amazing 2 night residential to Magdalen Farm. We enjoyed orienteering, feeding pigs, goats, chickens and cows. We also made smoothies on the blender bikes, built dens in the woods, made pizzas in the outdoor wood oven, collected eggs, sang songs around the camp fire, star gazed and of course ate lots of lovely food. We were really looked after by all the Magdalen staff especially our guide: Tilda. Your young people were exemplary and did us all proud.

Juniper class trip to Freshwater and West Bay

Juniper class trip to Freshwater and West Bay

Some of Juniper Class took a trip to Freshwater Holiday Park to go bowling. We had a great time pushing the bowling balls down the alley to knock down the pins. Some of us were very competitive and even managed to score some strikes !  We’ve also had some of our class go for a trip to Westbay. We enjoyed taking a walk in the sunshine and eating our snacks by the harbour- we even had time for a swing in the park.
