Six students from across Hazel, Chestnut and Rowan were invited to go on our annual trip fishing which is organised by The Masonic Fishing Charity. We arrived just after 10am and each student was allocated a fisherman and a goodie bag. Each child sat with their fisherman and most caught at least 3 fish to which there was great thrills about. (even about the ones that got away!) until lunch time and they then all had BBQ of hot dogs or burgers accompanied by crisps and fruit. At the end of the day each student was presented with a medal and a certificate from the charity which they get to take home and be super proud of themselves. What a credit to the school they all were today. Everyone was so proud!

On Wednesday 9th July, the drama ensemble attended a workshop at The Marine Theatre in Lyme. We worked with a group of year 10 drama students from Woodroffe school. We began with some warm up games and then produced a small abstract tableaux to share our thoughts on a Maya Angelou poem- Life doesn’t frighten me. Before leaving we showed off a bit of our Twelfth Night production which was received with great applause. A wonderful morning was had by all.

Hazel class really enjoyed our end of term Beach school session at West Bay. We spent some time on the beach making clocks, and thinking about good and bad rules for the beach. We then were lucky enough to have a hot lunch at Snack Shack to celebrate the year. All of the students were very well behaved, and we were very proud to represent Mountjoy.

We are celebrating Christmas Jumper Day on 8th December, which will hopefully bring some colour to this very gloomy December, and to raise funds for Save the Children.
Please wear something Christmasy tomorrow and if you can, spare some change which will be collected in school. If you prefer to donate direct to Save the Children, here is a link to the school’s Just Giving page:
