Masonic Fishing Trip

Masonic Fishing Trip

A small group of students were treated exceptionally well at Higher Kingcombe Fishing lakes today.  The Masonic Fishing Charity supported and entertained them all day.  Every student caught at least one fish.  Some were big and some were tiny.  It didn’t matter because we all congratulated each other on their achievements.  All the students and staff were treated to a lovely BBQ for lunch before a presentation where all the students were given a medal and a certificate.  A great day out!

Oak Class Residential – Magdelen Farm 2024

Oak Class Residential – Magdelen Farm 2024

Oak Class spent a fantastic few days at Magdalen Farm last week. Finally, after a tummy bug at the 11th hour halted the residential last time round, Oak Class made it to Magdalen Farm. Having accommodation in the ‘Farmhouse’ meant that the boys and staff had a ‘home away from home’ for a few days. We were shown around and looked after by Izzy our fantastic tutor who shared lots of different activities with us. Despite the persistent rain everyone had a fantastic time trying different activities and became quite adept at getting wellies and waterproofs on and off!

You Do Music…………

You Do Music…………

On Tuesday mornings this term we have a group of eleven students from across the school doing ‘You Do Music’ with Gary Pickard, a local musician.

Some of the students were working on notes and chords for keyboard and bass guitar, while others write lyrics for our song. Entirely at the students’ suggestion, the song is called ‘We are proud to be at Mountjoy School’. As previous You Do Music groups have done, we hope to put on a concert at the end of term. These concerts have been very much appreciated by the whole school.

Juniper class trip to Freshwater and West Bay

Juniper class trip to Freshwater and West Bay

Some of Juniper Class took a trip to Freshwater Holiday Park to go bowling. We had a great time pushing the bowling balls down the alley to knock down the pins. Some of us were very competitive and even managed to score some strikes !  We’ve also had some of our class go for a trip to Westbay. We enjoyed taking a walk in the sunshine and eating our snacks by the harbour- we even had time for a swing in the park.
